Lila, the Divine Game
"Lila, the Divine Game" is a mystifying and high-energy pursuit, gripping readers on a journey to discover the truth about what happened to Adalia, the star of a small, isolated town called Madina Lake. The eerie truth unfolds over three records by Chicago's high-concept rock band, Madina Lake. Equal parts, mystery and social commentary, "Lila" is a cryptic warning that postulates the precarious consequences of enacting a materialistic and morally bankrupt lifestyle, akin to the cultural climate of 2007 America, over ten years.
Written by bassist Matthew Leone, the backdrop was created with Madina Lake's debut EP, "The Disappearance of Adalia" and was released in pieces along with each succeeding LP. Clues are hidden in the artwork, in the songs and online, which act as sign posts for fans to discover for themselves, what happens to Adalia.
The profound and controversial statement is ultimately revealed in the bombastic ending, along with the band's release of "World War III" as promised from their genesis.
"Lila" is part fantasy and part true story of Madina Lake's twin brothers, Matthew and Nathan Leone, as many secrets about their real lives are revealed along with their real-time perspectives on modern day society.
